EU aid for livestock project

ISLAMABAD, March 16: European Union will provide 22.9m euro for a livestock development project, which starts next month. According to official sources, the project would be completed in six years at a cost of 25.942 million euro.

The Pakistan government would contribute about 3.042m euro in the project, which is aimed at improving the farmers' livelihoods through better provision of livestock services and enhancing the pace of productivity.

The specific objectives of the project are to strengthen the GoP capacity to plan and manage the sustainable delivery of public services to the sector in the context of a difficult economic situation and at the same it will examine the ways in which private sector delivery of services can be improved.

The activities in the field will address the two key areas, i.e. animal production (animal health and animal nutrition) and marketing. -APP
