KARACHI, March 12: The District and Sessions Judge, South, Justice Syed Saeed Hasan, confirmed the bail of Wasim Akram, a former cricketer, in a case of cheating.

The former skipper was booked in the case on a complaint of his friend, Saadat Hiyat, who alleged that he (Wasim Akram) had taken away his (complainant's) Potohar jeep to Lahore. The test player had earlier obtained an anticipatory bail in the case.

GUDDO BIHARI: An additional district and sessions court granted bail to the Orangi Town Nazim in four different cases in Rs20,000 each.

The cases, registered by the Pakistan Bazar police station, pertained to violent activities, shootout with police and arsoning in Orangi Town.

Shahid Alam, also known as Guddu Bihari, was arrested on Feb 19 by the anti-corruption establishment for misappropration of Rs10 milllion government funds. He, however, obtained bail in the case.

He has also been on an anticipatory bail from the District and Sessions Court, West, since Aug 20, 2003, in a murder case. Earlier, he was granted the interim pre-arrest bail on July 8, 2003, in the same case in sum of Rs100,000.

Guddu Bihari is still in custody in a robbery case, registered by Mominabad police.
