PESHAWAR: Efforts for technological advancement stressed
PESHAWAR, March 12: Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has asked the educated segment of society to make efforts for technological advancement.
Addressing the staff of the University of Engineering and Technology here on Friday, he said rapid changes in the world scenario had compelled countries like Pakistan to bring their technological advancement on a par with developed countries.
He said this was the only way to get rid of poverty, unemployment and other social and political problems.
He said the NWFP had great potential in the education sector and added that out of five serving inspectors-general of police and two provincial governors in the country belonged to the Frontier.
He appreciated the steps taken to associate the university with an engineering university of the United States.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Imtiaz Hussain Gillani briefed the governor about the university affairs. He said the university had established three campuses at Mardan, Bannu and Abbottabad.
Mr Gillani said the Higher Education Commission had provided Rs50 million for upgradation of two laboratories.-PPI
