KARACHI, March 1: The traffic police have notified the alternate traffic arrangements on the occasion of Muharram-ul- Haram. On Tuesday (Muharram 10th), Shia Majlis will be held at Nishter Park from 7:30am to 9pm where after a procession will proceed to Hussainian Iranian Imambargah.

As soon as the procession will start from Nishter Park, all the vehicular traffic will be diverted on to Soldier Bazaar Road from the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road and Daudpota Road.

All traffic on Soldier Bazaar Road from its junction with Daudpota Road up to its junction with Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Road shall flow one way. All buses, minibuses, and trucks coming from Nazimabad will be diverted onto Nishter Road towards Zoological Garden to reach their destinations.

All buses, minibuses and trucks coming from Liaquatabad will be diverted onto Martin Road towards Jail side. These vehicles shall be permitted to proceed via Jamshed Road, Dadabhoy Norouji Road, Kashmir Road, Shahrah-i-Quaideen, Sharae Faisal up to Gora Qabristan and then via Mubarak Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Daudpota Road, Preedy Street to their normal route.

When the head of the procession reaches at the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road and Mansfield Street, these vehicles shall proceed straight to 602 EME Workshop, Mubarak Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Fatima Jinnah Road, Maulana Din Mohammad Wafai Road (Old Stratchen Road), Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, M.A. Jinnah Road till the situation permits when these vehicles shall be diverted onto I.I. Chundrigar Road from the junction of Court Road and M.R. Kiyani Road.

Similarly, all traffic approaching the city from Stadium Road shall proceed via New M.A. Jinnah Road to Kashmir Road. All trucks, buses and minibuses approaching from Super Highway shall be diverted from Al-Azam Square towards Chowrangi No.2, Nazimabad and shall proceed along Estate Avenue Road, Shershah to Mauripur Road. For return journey, these vehicles shall adopt the same route.

All buses, minibuses and trucks approaching from National Highway shall proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Muhammad Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No.10, Nazimabad Chowrangi No.2, Habib Bank, Manghopir Road, Estate Avenue Road, Sher Shah to Mauripur Road. For return journey these vehicles shall also adopt the same route.

All the traffic shall not be permitted to proceed towards the route of the procession from Guru Mandir roundabout. These vehicles shall be diverted onto Bahadur Yar Jang Road and again onto Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Road.

Under no circumstances, these vehicles shall be permitted to proceed along Soldier Bazar Road from the junction of Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Road and Bahadur Yar Jang Road.

All car traffic coming for Quaid-i-Azam Mazar along M.A. Jinnah Road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road. No vehicular traffic will be permitted to proceed towards Numaish under any circumstances.

All vehicular traffic approaching Numaish via Shahrah-i- Quaideen (except those arriving for participating in the procession having stickers pasted on their wind screens) shall not be allowed to proceed from the roundabout of Shahrah-i- Quaideen link road behind the Mazar. No bus, minibus and truck will be permitted to proceed beyond this roundabout towards Numaish.

All traffic going towards Saddar and other colonies will not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market from the junction of (1) Preedy Street/Sarmad Road, (2) Preedy Street/M.A. Jinnah Road (3) Shahrah-i-Liaquat/Court Road (4) Shahrah-i- Liaquat /Muhammad Bin Qasim Road when the head of the procession reaches near the crossing of M.A. Jinnah Road/Mansfield Street.

Similarly, all vehicular traffic proceeding towards Saddar via M.A. Jinnah Road shall not be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Street and Agha Khan Road.

All traffic coming from Keamari will be terminated at Ghas Bunder Railway Quarters and as soon as the head of the procession (Suuni procession) reaches at the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road and Dunnolly Road, these vehicles shall ply in shuttle service between Keamari to Railway Quarters.

All buses coming from West Wharf and Mauripur Road will terminate at the junction of Aga Khan Road and Eduljee Dinshaw Road. The traffic from West Wharf and Mauripur Road will, however, be permitted to proceed via Aga Khan Road, G. Allana Road, till the situation so prevents.

All traffic coming from and bound to Keamari and Mauripur Road from the side of M.T. Khan Road will travel via Jinnah Bridge till the time head of the procession reaches at the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road and Dunnolly Road and thereafter, all the traffic will be suspended from the junction of M.T. Khan Road and Jinnah Bridge. -APP
