KARACHI: Arrangements for Muharram

KARACHI, Feb 28: The number of volunteers for duties at the city government's control room has been increased on the occasion of Ashura to save mourners from any problem.

The number of volunteers has been increased in the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Pakistan Telecommunication Ltd, Sui Southern Gas Company, Fire Brigade, Health Department, Civil Defence, Pakistan Qaumi Razakar (PQR) and some other departments.

General people have been advised to call at Help Line 134 (five lines), 021-9230060, 021-9230061, 021-9230062 and at Fax No 021-9230068 in case of any problem on the day of Ashura.

The city government has also set up special camp (control room) for co-ordination of processions, to be taken out on 9th and 10th of Muhharam at Traffic Check Post, M.A. Jinnah Road where staff of fire brigade, civil defence, PQR and doctors as well as paramedical staff will be present to deal with any eventuality.

The in-charge of crisis management cell, Colonel (Retd) Ehtishamuddin, will supervise the operation. People have been advised to contact at 021-7788468 for immediate help during the procession.-PPI
