ISLAMABAD: Action against profiteers demanded

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 28: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has urged the district administration to take action against those shopkeepers, who are charging high prices on flour in the twin cities of rawalpindi and Islamabad.

This was stated by the ICCI senior vice-president, Chaudhry Mukhtar Ahmed, in a statement here on Saturday, who visited the 40 sale points of flour with the district food controller, Abdul Rasheed Razi, and the deputy director food, Ahmed Nawaz.

Mr Ahmed said at some places shopkeepers were charging high prices from the customers.

"Now, it is the duty of administration to control the prices. The shopkeepers are blackmailing the customers while food department is equally distributing the flour in the twin cities." He said flour quantity, being supplied these bays was the same, which was about two months ago", he stated.

The ICCI hailed the steps taken by the food department to control the flour shortage in the twin cities. The chamber announced the honorary shield for the district food controller.
