ISLAMABAD, Feb 26: A committee, comprising members from police and traders, will be formed to curb crimes and solve the traders' problems, the senior superintendent of police, Shahid Nadeem Baluch, said while talking to the members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Thursday.

He stressed the need for better police-trader coordination to control the crime. In this connection, he said more police stations would be set up in the Industrial Area soon.

The SSP emphasized the role of traders and industrialists in the development of the federal capital. He assured the traders of quick disposal of trade-related cases.

The ICCI president, Zubair Ahmed Malik, asked the SSP to solve the traders problems. He, however, regretted the incident of Aabpara and hoped that in future such incidents should not be repeated. He said Islamabad was the city of traders and industrialists and their role was vital in its development.

The ICCI senior vice-president, Chaudhry Mukhtar Ahmed, said the coordination between traders and police was essential for a peaceful environment.

The secretary of Traders Action Committee, Ajmal Baloch, also expressed his resentment over the police baton-charge on traders. Sheikh Pervez Ahmed expressed his concern over the increasing incidents of robbery in the Capital, especially in the Industrial Area and urged the SSP to take steps in this connection.

Shahid Zaman Shinwari, the chairman of Goods Forwarding Agency, complained about the problems being faced by trucks in entering the capital and accused the police for getting bribery at the checkposts.
