ISLAMABAD, Feb 24: The ICI Group has shown interest to expand its business in Pakistan and manufacture products for export. This was announced by the Chief Executive, ICI Group
, John McAdam in a meeting with Commerce Minister, Humayun Akhtar Khan here on Tuesday. The commerce secretary Kamal Afsar also attended the meeting.
According to an official announcement, Mr McAdam discussed the future plans of the ICI in Pakistan and said that his company was interested in expanding its business in paints, fragrances, soaps, solvents, detergents, polyester fibre, soda ash, etc.
These products would be manufactured in Pakistan and then exported to various countries to earn hard currencies for Pakistan, he added. The ICI Chief Executive said that his company was planning for incremental investment in Pakistan.
The Commerce Minister, Humayun Akhtar said that Pakistan was a fast developing market and offered excellent opportunities for investment in numerous sectors.
The minister told the delegation that Pakistan had consistent trade policy and the investors should benefit from liberal trade regime in Pakistan. Mr Khan assured the ICI delegation that the government would extend all possible facilities to ICI as a matter of policy of the government.
ICI is a UK-based company having a range of 50,000 products, more than 38,000 employees and over 200 manufacturing facilities in 55 countries world wide. ICI Pakistan limited was set up as a public limited company in Pakistan in 1952.
