SIALKOT, Feb 23: Four gunmen took away Rs6 million in cash from United Bank's Gandum Market branch here on Monday noon. Bank staff said the robbers came there by motorcycles , held them and security guards at gunpoint, collected Rs6 million in cash and fled away with the booty. It may be noted that branch is located in the city's congested area. Hajipura police are investigating.
ROBBERIES: The robbers took away cash, a car, motorcycles, electronics, leather and other valuables worth millions of rupees in several strikes in the district.
Four robbers stormed into the cargo agency of one Hayat on Shahabpura Road, held the staff and customers at gunpoint and drove away with his car (STJ-1417) after looting cash, three mobile phones, car and other valuables worth thousands of rupees.
Hajipura police have registered a case. Three gunmen snatched gold ornaments and cash worth Rs75,000 at gunpoint from Yaqoob and his wife in Gujjar Street, Hajipura.
Imran Khaliq was deprived of his motorcycle (STM-716), a cell phone and cash by two armed men. In Puran Nagar, Kotwali, thieves stole leather worth Rs2 million from Umar Sharif's factory.
Trader Asghar's motorcycle (STM-8785) was stolen by unidentified men from his house in Muhammadpura locality in Kotwali, while Habib's motorcycle (STM-8757) was drive away at gunpoint by two gunmen in Badiana, Pasrur.
Three bandits took away gold, cash and other valuables worth thousands of rupees from the house of Muhammad Khan, besides, snatching cash and wrist watch at gunpoint from Amin.
Three highwaymen took away gold ornaments and cash worth Rs17,000 from Adnan and his mother on Adalatgarh Road, Uggoki. Two armed men snatched a motorcycle (STN-5952), Rs500 in cash and a mobile phone at gunpoint from Tahir Nadeem near Bheer-Motra village, Daska. Thieves took away the motorcycle (STK-2527) of Glotiyaan village landlord Javed Iqbal from outside the ADBP's Daska branch.
PROTEST: Traders of Sialkot fruit and vegetable market, led by their president Chaudhry Munir Ahmad, staged a protest demonstration in front of DPO's offices against the bid on their colleague Amjad Rafiq's life by one Dilawar.
The protesters were carrying placards and chanted anti-police slogans, demanding immediate suspension of Muradpur police station SHO for not arresting the accused. Later, they met DPO Nisar Ahmad Saroya and informed him about the situation. He assured them of immediate arrest of the accused.
KIDNAP: A newly-wed woman was kidnapped while her husband was beaten up by three people, including a woman, in Khambraanwala village on Monday.
Aslam told Head Marala police that Latif, Amjad alias Mithu and Irshad Bibi, forced their entry into his house. The men beat him with the butts of their guns when he put up resistance and kidnapped his wife. Police have registered a case with no arrest.
