Copter crashes in Afghanistan

KANDAHAR, Feb 22: A helicopter belonging to an American road construction company crashed in southern Afghanistan on Sunday but the number of casualties is unknown, an official said.

"A helicopter which belongs to a road construction company has crashed in Panjwayj district of Kandahar province," the military spokesman for Kandahar, General Abdul Wasay, said.

"It is not clear yet whether it was shot down or whether it had a technical problem." Wasay said the government sent a team to the crash site, some 50 kilometres west of Kandahar city to investigate. -AFP
