Lammert meets Soomro

ISLAMABAD, Feb 20: The visiting vice-president of the German federal parliament, Dr Norbert Lammert, called on the Senate chairman, Mohammadmian Soomro, at his chamber in the Parliament House here on Friday.

During the meeting, matters of bilateral cooperation with special reference to the promotion of parliamentary ties and cultural exchanges came under discussion.

Welcoming the visiting dignitary, the Senate chairman said Pakistan and Germany enjoyed good friendly relations and the visit of the vice-president of the German parliament would go a long way in further enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Mr Lammert said Pakistan and Germany should promote more parliamentary interaction as the exchange of experience would be beneficial for the two countries.

He suggested to hold a seminar on parliamentary experiences of the two countries with a view to promote parliamentary cooperation between Pakistan and Germany. He also proposed Joint- Chairmanship of Pakistan-Germany Friendship Forum.
