Indian media quota increased

NEW DELHI, Feb 18: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to revise its earlier limit of 60 Indian journalists at each venue of the much awaited series in March-April and will now accommodate at least 75.

"They have shown more flexibility and have now agreed to accommodate at least 75 Indian journalists at each venue," Amrit Mathur, communication director of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said Wednesday.

Mathur returned home on Monday after a survey of Pakistani venues with a three-member team. Mathur said Pakistani stadiums would be able to accommodate sufficient number of journalists.

Asked if a small city like Multan has capacity to hold Indian journalists and many more Pakistani newsmen expected to turn up, Mathur said: "Yes, I have seen press box and it can accommodate them."

Applications from Indian journalists have already started pouring in at BCCI secretariat at New Delhi. BCCI will screen applications and then forward them to PCB, which has set a deadline of Feb 21 for receiving filled forms at New Delhi. It is expected more than 200 applications will be in before deadline lapses. -PPI
