KARACHI, Feb 17: Karachi University Vice-Chancellor Dr Pirzada Qasim underlined the need that Pakistani literature be translated into English to promote an understanding of our culture world wide.

He was presiding over a lecture on "Pakistani Literature in English: An Overview," delivered by guest-speaker Mrs Muneeza Shamsie, a noted literary figure, and organized by KU English department on Tuesday.

Dr Pirzada elaborated: "we do not want isolation, we want to promote relations with other countries of the world. As we have different culture and our literature is not going to other countries due to language barriers, so our literature should be translated into English."

Mrs Shamsie, in her lecture, giving an overview of the Pakistani literature in English, highlighted works of local writers, and how they observed different aspects of the society, and spoke of their writing styles. -PPI
