ISLAMABAD, Feb 13: The Senate adopted a resolution on Friday condoling the death of Labour and Manpower Minister Abdul Sattar Laleka.

Tabling the resolution, Leader of the House Wasim Sajjad said the late Abdul Sattar Laleka, who died of heart failure in Lahore, was a distinguished parliamentarian and got elected several times to the National Assembly.

The house, he said, wished to place on record its appreciation for the valuable services rendered by Mr Laleka over a long period and in different positions for the cause of democracy, national harmony, well-being and welfare of the people of the country.

His commitment to national cause would long be remembered with a sense of deep gratitude, Mr Sajjad said. The house prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant fortitude and courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss.

Later, Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro adjourned the session to meet again at 6:30pm on Monday. The house did not transact any business due to the death of Abdul Sattar Laleka.

Meanwhile, parliamentary party of the Pakistan Muslim League and its allied parties in the Senate met here on Friday with Wasim Sajjad in the chair. The meeting also passed a resolution to condole the demise of Abdul Sattar Laleka.

The meeting lauded the services rendered by the late Laleka for the country and observed that the party had lost a committed and hard-working senior colleague. Fateha was also offered for the departed soul. -APP
