Grenade hurled at Jam's home

QUETTA, Feb 12: A hand-grenade was hurled at the private house of Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf at Sariab road here on Thursday night. The grenade exploded at the roof of the house, smashing windowpanes. However, no one was hurt as the house was empty at the time of the incident.

According to the police, unknown people hurled the hand-grenade from the Mengal Street side. Soon after the explosion, senior police and local administration officials rushed to the site and started investigations. No arrest was reported till filing of the story.

A retired bureaucrat, Ghulam Mohammad Taj, had rented out the house to the chief minister and was being used for party meetings. On Wednesday night, unknown people hurled a hand-grenade at the residence of Mastung Settlement Officer Mir Ahmed Nausherwani, who is cousin of Home Minister Mir Shoaib Nausherwani. The armed men also fired shots at the house.

However, no body was injured in the grenade explosion and firing. The local administration has tightened security, deploying extra police and personnel of other law enforcement agencies after the grenade attacks and bomb explosion in the provincial capital.
