MIRPURKHAS, Feb 11: A wheat crisis is continuing in the district because of non-availability of the commodity in the food department stores and is being sold at exorbitant rates. Recently the Sindh government transported wheat from Bahawalpur, of which three district of the Mirpurkhas were given 30,000 bags.

The Sanghar district was given 13,000 bags, Mirpurkhas, 15,000 bags and Tharparkar, 2,000 bags. Mirpurkhas District Food Controller Nazeer Memon said 15,000 tons of wheat was required for the region February.

He said the crisis would end in March when the new wheat crop reached the market. Sources said the food secretary had allocated wheat for the chakkis and flour mills of the Mirpurkhas taluka but the allocations were cancelled without any plausible reason.
