PPP lost popularity: SNF chief

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 9: Sindh National Front chief Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, on Monday, took exception to the recent utterances of the PPP leaders regarding former leaders who had left the party.

In a statement issued here, the SNF chief said that the leaders who had left the Pakistan Peoples Party went much ahead in their personal capacities than those who were still in the party.

According to him, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi became prime minister and Hafeez Pirzada became one of the top advocates of the country. Besides, those who left the PPP and formed patriotic faction are federal and provincial ministers at present. Those who went into the Muslim League also became ministers and legislators, he added.

Mumtaz Ali said that Aftab Sherpao was not only a federal minister, but had also formed his party in the NWFP and secured more seats in the assembly than those won by the PPP.

He said that it had become clear that popularity of the PPP in the masses was not the same as it was in the beginning.
