KARACHI: Free medical camps planned

KARACHI, Feb 7: The city government will hold free medical camps in Malir, Gadap and Bin Qasim towns from Feb 15, under the directives of Sindh Health department.

An official in the Health department of the city government informed PPI that provincial Health secretary had directed the EDO (Health) to hold free medical camps, after receiving reports regarding lack of medical facilities in these areas, resulting in spread of diseases.

"Elected representatives of the areas had approached the Sindh Health department some days back and informed about rise in incidence of different diseases due to unavailability of health care facilities here," he said.

He said that hepatitis-B, Polio and DPT diseases are particularly rampant in these areas and the people were suffering badly due to lack of medical facilities.

Arrangements were being finalized for holding the camps, and the first such camp would be held on Feb 15, he added.

He said that free medicines, including vaccines for different diseases, would be provided and specialist doctors would treat the people free of cost.

"These camps will be held in collaboration with the health officers of respective towns, for which they have been asked to make arrangements," he added.-PPI
