By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Feb 7: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said here on Saturday that like the underpasses in Lahore, all development projects in the province would be completed on schedule.

He was talking to reporters during a surprise visit to the under-construction FC College underpass.

The chief minister said the Rs288 million underpass would be completed within three months. All projects in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur and other cities would also be completed on schedule, he said.

He said development activities in the province had been accelerated, promoting construction industry and providing ample job opportunities to the people.

The chief minister said provision of infrastructure was necessary for progress of the country and this aspect was being looked into under a comprehensive policy.

He said more underpasses and flyovers would be constructed in Lahore to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. Around 200,000 vehicles would use the FC College underpass daily. Work on the Ring Road would also be started in near future, he said.

The chief minister said quality material had been used in the FC College underpass, which would be completed before March 7. All funds were being used in a transparent manner, he added.

He said construction of the Lahore-Kasur and Sheikhupura-Nankana roads would also be started during the current fiscal year.

Earlier, the communication secretary briefed the chief minister on construction of the underpass.
