AJK premier supports Kashmir policy


MUZAFFARABAD, Feb 6: The prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan, on Friday said President Musharraf's reiteration of commitment on the eve of Kashmir Solidarity Day reflected his firm resolve for the cause of Kashmir.

He was commenting on President Musharraf's address to the joint session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council on Feb 5, 2003.

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir premier said:"We have got complete confidence and trust in the leadership of President Pervez Musharraf." He is committed to the cause of Kashmir and national interests, he added.

He said the Kashmiri people were thankful and grateful to President Musharraf for his firm resolve, commitment and decisive stand on the long-standing dispute of Kashmir and for the reiteration of pledge to continue moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of the valley.

Sikandar Hayat said: "This is the right time for the whole nation to extend complete cooperation and help to the president and strengthen the hands of the president to help bail out the country of the crises."

He also thanked President Gen Pervez Musharraf for giving importance to the progress and development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and for providing Rs140 million for the 28 constituencies of the AJK.

Meanwhile, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister also paid visit to the newly-established television centre of the AJK here on Friday. In his interview to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir TV, he thanked Gen Musharraf for his gift in the shape of a TV centre on Kashmir Solidarity Day. -APP
