Zaheer hopeful of regaining fitness

MUMBAI, Feb 1: Indian bowling spearhead Zaheer Khan, who has started working out at a local Gymnasium, said he was confident of being fully fit for the Pakistan tour starting next month.

Indian media reported that the left arm seamer, who missed most of the on going Test and one-day series due to hamstring injury, said on Sunday that he was fast recovering to his peak fitness.

"It was really very disappointing to be sidelined due to hamstring injury especially after taking a five-wicket haul in Brisbane and getting to a very good rhythm. But these things do happen to sportspersons and it is not in my hands to stop them," he added.

"However, I am very confident of being fit for the Pakistan tour as I am getting treated by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doctor Dr Anant Joshi at Nanavati Hospital every morning and I do my daily work outs at the Gym every evening," he said.

"It will take another two weeks for me to recover completely and I am very happy with the progress I have made so far as I feel much much fitter than what I was feeling four weeks ago," he added. -PPI
