LAHORE: Two gangs of dacoits busted


LAHORE, Feb 1: The CIA cantonment division claims to have arrested nine dacoits of two inter-district gangs and recovered stolen items and illicit weapons from their possession.

Senior Superintendent Police (Investigation) Shafqat Ahmad made this claim at a press conference here on Sunday. He said the accused had looted gold ornaments worth Rs2.7 million from a jeweller, Muhammad Siddique, in Raiwind and Rs4.5 million from a trader, Abdul Sattar, who had drawn cash from a local bank. The accused had also snatched a car (LRD-6878) from an inspector at Muslim Town Morr.

The arrested gangsters were identified as Basharati alias Bashri, Ghulam Nabi, Aslam, Arif, Iqbal, Ramazan, Basharat, Shahadat Ali and Gulzar. The recovery included cash of Rs1.5 million, a gold set, two mobile phones, four motorcycles, two tractors and a truck besides two rifles, four pistols, a gun, four magazines and 264 rounds of ammunition.- APP
