Murder case against MPA condemned

ISLAMABAD, Jan 31: The Pakistan People's Party has condemned implication of its MPA and parliamentary leader in the Balochistan assembly in a case of murder that took place in April last year at Mastung.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, ARD chairman and vice-president of the PPP Makhdoom Amin Fahim said an anti- terrorism court in Khuzdar had issued non-bailable warrants of MPA Nawab Aslam Raisani, his brother, son and others with the order to the local police to produce them before the court.

"Nawab Raisani was not nominated in the murder case at the time nor any court summoned him thus far. His name along with that of his brother and son sprang up from nowhere last week," the statement added.

It said the decision was part of the government's victimization agenda to break up main political parties.

Mr Fahim said it was a pity that at a time when the country was passing through a critical juncture, the regime pursued the game of vendetta and breaking of political parties.

He said reactivation of such a dormant case and involving in it an opposition leader was an indication that the regime was bent on harassing mainstream political parties.

The PPP leader said it was unfortunate that the regime had been pursuing a political policy that pitted it against the people and the mainstream political parties.
