Youhana named Lahore skipper

LAHORE, Jan 28: Yousuf Youhana leads nine other Test players in the Lahore Region team announced on Wednesday for Quaid-i-Azam Trophy and One-day Cup, which will go into action on Feb 8.

An official at Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) said a total of 35 players have been named for the team many of whom would replace Test cricketers, who would leave for Pakistan-India series during the Trophy.

Besides Test players the team also have five national under-19 players, he added. Other Test players besides Yousuf are:

Paceman Waqar Younis, Abdul Razzaq, off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, leg-spinner Mohammad Hussain, openers Imran Farhat, Taufiq Umar, Saleem Elahi, Salman Butt and wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal.

Salman Qadir, Wahab Riaz, Jahangir Mirza, Abid Ali, Zulqernain Haider (wicket-keeper), Kashif Nizami, Rizwan Ahmed, Ashraf Ali, Waqar Ahmed, Tariq Rashid, Ali Husain, Kamran Sajid, Zia-ur-Rehman, Khaqan Arsal, Hasan Adnan, Wasim Khan, Mohammad Khalil, Imran Sabir, Irfan Fazil, Aizaz bin Ilyas, Shahzad Butt, Azhar Ali, Nafees Ahmed, Shahbaz Butt (wicket-keeper) and Zeeshan Safeer form part of the rest of Lahore team. PCA also announced Multan Region team which included:

Usman Tariq, Asif Iqbal, Tahir Maqsood, Rehan Rafiq, Kamran Hussain (Bahawalpur), Yasir Arafat Junior, Aamir Bashir (captain), Sohaib Maqsood, Mohammad Fazil (Multan), Ishtiaq Qadeer, Mohammad Shabbir, Mohammad Irshad (Khanewal), Saeed Anwar Junior (vice- captain), Wasim Majeed (Vehari), Mohammad Rizwan, Aqeel Arshad, Amir Atta (Dera Ghazi Khan), Mohammad Sarwar, Abdur Rauf, Nazir Ahmed (Okara).

Reserves: Mohammad Tanvir (Sahiwal), Hasnain Abbas (Khanewal), Majid Majeed (Bahawalnagar), Mohammad Shafiq (Sahiwal), Ali Rufi (Muzaffargarh), Adeel Azam (Rajanpur).
