SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 25: At least six women and two children were killed in two separate incidents of roof collapse in Sheikhupura and Hafizabad districts on Sunday.

In Mandi Faizabad on the Jaranwala Road, the roof of a house collapsed when a Rasm-i-Hina was in progress. Al least five women died. A number of injured were taken to different hospitals and the neighbours pulled out those trapped in the debris. The bride's mother Munawar Bibi, Nasreen Bibi and Fatima Raheem died immediately while Nausheen Bibi and Muriam succumbed to their wounds at the Mayo Hospital, Lahore.

In Hafizabad, three members of a family were killed when the roof of their house collap-sed in the Dohatta Azmat village. Police said Azra Bibi, the daughter-in-law of the house's owner, Ghulam Rasool, and two children were buried.
