Speaking at the second day of a book fair, organized by Islami Jamiat Talaba at KU gymnasium, he said presence of a large number of students and purchase of reading material indicated that students still loved books.

On the occasion, KU Pharmacy Dean Dr Anwar Ijaz Beg, Science Dean Dr Iqbal Mohsin, Arts Dean Dr Abu Zar Wajidi, Students' Advisor Muhammad Raees, faculty member, Dr Hissamuddin Mansoori, and acting IJT Nazim Syed Amir Ashraf were also present.

Later, former KU vice-chancellor Dr Abdul Wahab, Deputy Parliamentary leader of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in Sindh assembly, Nasarullah Shajee and Jamat-i-Islami Karachi Amir Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui, Town Nazim, Liaqautabad, Dr Pervez Mehmood, teachers, journalists and lawyers, besides people from all walks of life also visited the fair.

City Nazim maintained that basic reason behind country's poor performance in the fields of Economics, Science and Technology, was illiteracy and student' aloofness from books.
