PESHAWAR, Jan 19: The Muttahida Talaba Council of the NWFP Agriculture University staged a protest demonstration on Monday against the increase in fees.

A spokesman for the council said in a statement that the protesters demanded withdrawal of the increase in the fees. They presented a charter of demands to the university administration and gave it a week to fulfil those.

They demanded reduction in document verification and other fees, refund of security deposit and early return of documents and certificates to the students after verification. They said they would go on a strike if the demands were not met. The spokesman called upon NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah to investigate cases of corruption in the university.
