HYDERABAD Jan 14: Talks between the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz and the heirs of G.M. Syed on holding a joint public meeting on Jan 17 in Sann to celebrate his birth centenary failed in Sann on Tuesday.

This was said by JSQM chairman Bashir Qureshi at a news conference at party media centre here on Wednesday. According to him, Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, the grandson of the late Syed, founder of the Jeay Sindh movement, insisted that the anthem of Sindhudesh must not be sung on the occasion. Mr Qureshi did not agree and instead decided to hold his party's public meeting outside Sann town.

He alleged that Mr Shah had set up some make-shift shops near the grave of the Syed where the JSQM usually organized the birth anniversary functions every year on Jan 17.

He said that he requested Ameer Haider Shah to persuade Mr Shah to remove the shops but the latter did not agreed, saying that the holding of two meetings in Sann on the same day could not be allowed.

According to the JSQM chief, Mr Shah said that the JSQM activists could participate in the public meeting organized by him provided they did not sing the anthem. He said that the anthem was the corner stone of his party's struggle and even the late Syed used to stand in respect while the anthem was sung.
