KARACHI, Jan 12: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar said on Monday that a thorough investigation would be made into the incident, which claimed the life of PPP-SB leader Ali Mohammad Sonara.

Ali Sonara, a close confidant of PPP-SB founder Mir Murtaza Bhutto, and one of his colleagues were shot dead on Sunday night near his Kamil Gali residence, Kharadar.

The chief minister was talking to newsmen after a reception hosted here in honour of two MPAs Dr Sohrab Khan Sarki and Bano Sagheer by Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Minister Manzoor Ali Khan Panhwar on Monday.

Mr Mahar said, "We will probe into the incident and collect evidences about the murder to find the culprits." He said that maintenance of law and order was his prime responsibility and he would take up the issue with authorities concerned for further improvement.

"I have asked Inspector General of Police to take further steps for improving law and order in the province especially in the mega city," he added.

The chief minister said that he would also undertake surprise visits of the city to inspect the law and order situation. He ruled out any possible threat to his coalition government, saying that his government was stable and it would complete its term. He said that the performance of his government could be gauged by the various public welfare projects that had been launched during the last year.

Regarding reports about differences among various components of the coalition, the chief minister said these differences were of minor nature.

Meanwhile, the chief minister said that social injustice, unemployment and illiteracy were some of the several causes of rising lawlessness incidents in some parts of the province, adds PPI.

He said the government had been taking steps to resolve the inherited problems. The police authorities had been issued strict orders to find out the causes of lawlessness incidents and take stern measures to weed out the culprits, he added.
