KARACHI: Lady doctor among 3 crushed to death

KARACHI, Jan 6: Three persons, including a lady doctor, were crushed to death beneath different trains in separate incidents in Malir area on Tuesday. Police said Dr Amber Anwar, 25, was hit by a Rohri-bound train (engine no 5046) when she was crossing over the tracks near Kalaboard Malir while going to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre at around 7:30am on Tuesday. Resident of the Mehran Housing Society, Dr Amber was doing house job in Gynaecology Department of JPMC.

Police said that the victim died on the spot, her body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities. Later, the body was handed over to the victim's family by the police.

An unidentified 10-year-old boy died in his bid to cross the railway tracks within the limits of Malir City police station. Police said that his body was shifted to the JPMC for postmortem. Later, the body was taken to the Edhi morgue for identification, police added.

Mohammad Farhan, 20, died when he fell from a moving train within Al-Falah police limits. Police said that Farhan used to earn his living by selling sweets and biscuits on board trains.

ACCIDENT: An unidentified man died in a road accident in Nazimabad on Tuesday. Police said that an unidentified man, in his mid 30's, was knocked down to death by a speeding vehicle in Jahangirabad area. Following the accident, the vehicle escaped from the spot. The victim's face was disfigured beyond recognition. His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities by the police.

DIES: A housewife died of burns during treatment on Tuesday. Police said that Nazia, wife of Abdul Ghaffar, had suffered burns in her house in Malir City on Dec 29. She was admitted to the burns ward of the Civil Hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds on Tuesday.
