Exports up by 13pc in six months

ISLAMABAD, Jan 6: Exports registered a growth of over 13 per cent during the July-December period of the current financial year over the same period of last year.

Official figures made available to Dawn on Tuesday showed total value of exports stood at $5.881 billion during the period under review against $5.198 billion over the same period of last year, indicating an increase of 13.15 per cent.

Further analysis showed that the exports surpassed the target of $5.821 billion by 1.03 per cent during the first half of the current financial year.On monthly basis, exports stood at $1,045 million during December 2003 against the target of $962 million, showing an increase of 8.62 per cent.

The exports, however, registered a growth of 21.05 per cent during December 2003 against the last year's exports of $863 million during the same month. The statistics showed the exports registered the highest growth during December 2003 as compared to the previous five months during the current financial year.
