LAHORE, Jan 4: The summit meeting of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) will be held in the city on Jan 8 to discuss details of the mass-contact drive. It will also frame a programme for expressing solidarity with Kashmiris and raising a voice for the protection of nuclear assets of the country.

The meeting will also take up differences that have cropped up between the six-party religious alliance on agreement with the government on LFO and other issues.

Deputy secretary-general Liaquat Baloch says the issue of electing an MMA president will not come up on the agenda of the meeting as the issue can be taken up only after the JUP elects its new chief.

The office is lying vacant after the death of Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani last month. Jamaat-i-Islami amir Qazi Husain Ahmad is currently serving as acting president of the alliance.
