KARACHI, Jan 4: Four persons, including an activist of Mohajir Qaumi Movement, were shot dead in separate incidents in various areas of the city. An activist of Mohajir Qaumi Movement was shot dead in New Karachi on Saturday night.

Police said that Mohammad Saleem Raza, 36, was sitting near a food outlet in Sector-11 of New Karachi, when three armed men came and opened fire on him. His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem. Later, the body was handed over to his relatives. Police said the victim was a resident of Liaquatabad No.4.

In Mahmoodabad, a young man was shot dead by unknown persons early Sunday morning. Police said that Asif, 30, was sitting outside his mother's house in Chanesar goth near a government school when three persons on a motorcycle came and opened fire at him.

The victim was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said that the victim was a resident of Lyari. Later, his mother Anwari Begum lodged an FIR against two suspects.

In Saeedabad, a young man was gunned down at a marriage ceremony late Saturday night. Police said that Mohammad Asif, 20, was attending his friends Altaf Husain's wedding ceremony in Sector 5-G.

Police said that the victim was standing outside the tent when some armed men shot him and fled. He was taken to a nearby private hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Later, his body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination, police added.

In North Nazimabad, a security guard was found dead with a bullet wound in his head on Sunday. Police said that Manzoor, 30, was found dead inside a cellular phone shop in North Nazimabad's Block-D. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem. Police suspect that the victim was shot by his fellow security guard, as he was absconding and the shop was closed.

CARJACKINGS: A total of 119 vehicles - 31 cars and 88 motorcycles - were taken away in different localities in the last one week. Fifteen cars were taken away at gunpoint and 16 others were stolen by the bandits in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Saddar, North Nazimabad, Gulberg, Clifton, Defence and other areas.

Out of 88 motorcycles, twenty-two were snatched at gunpoint while 44 others were stolen in various areas, including North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, Orangi Town, Jamshed Town, Korangi, Landhi, Gulberg and other areas. Police claimed the recovery of 29 stolen cars and 37 motorbikes in the last week.
