KARACHI: VC expects new KU session to remain peaceful

KARACHI, Jan 1: Karachi University Vice-Chancellor Dr Zafar Said Saify has asked the students' advisors of all the varsity departments to play their role in resolving difficulties faced by students in the new academic session 2004.

The VC dispelled the impression that there were chances of disturbance at the campus with the start of new academic session, and said several committees had been formed to contact students and guide them in case of any difficulty.

"Deans of all KU faculties, chairpersons, including myself, will be available to welcome students at the commencement of new academic session, starting from Thursday," he said, adding that students would also be apprised, in detail, of educational opportunities, research activities and scholarships provided by various institutions.

Saplings of disease-free crops and plants would be grown on vacant varsity land in front of main Silver Jubilee gate, and will be provided to growers and common people on subsidised prices, he added. -PPI
