SUKKUR: Gas pipeline explodes

SUKKUR, Dec 31: Supply of gas to Karachi, Sukkur and some parts of the interior of Sindh was interrupted when a gas pipeline exploded near RD-68, Tangwani police station jurisdiction, Sindh-Balochistan border, early Wednesday morning.

Jacobabad DPO Din Mohammad Baloch, along with other policemen, rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Gas officials also reached the scene and suspended the gas supply.

The gas supply to Karachi and the other parts would be restored after repair of the pipeline. It is being said that a rocket was fired on the pipeline but the police said the incident was the result of a technical fault.

KARO-KARI: A person was killed over Karo-kari in Mullan Chandio village on Tuesday in the jurisdiction of the Dakhan police station. Suhno, son of Qaiser Chandio, was on way to home when an unidentified armed man shot him dead and escaped.

Relatives of the deceased man told the police that the murder was the outcome of an old Karo-kari dispute. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

ENCOUNTER: An armed encounter between robbers and villagers in Bakhshapur, Jacobabad district, on Tuesday forced the former to abandon a stolen motorcycle and flee.

A motorcyclist, Sham Lal, was on way to his home when two armed highwaymen intercepted him and snatched the motorcycle and looted Rs25,000 on gunpoint and fled.

Meanwhile, some villagers reached the spot and went after the robbers. An encounter took place near Khabar Phall as a result of which the criminals fled towards Balochistan, leaving behind the stolen as well as their own motorcycle.

ATTACKED: Six armed persons launched a rocket attack at a house in Gulsher Mohalla on Monday night in the jurisdiction of the A-section police station, Kandhkot.

About six men opened indiscriminate firing at the house of Master Khawand Bakhsh Malik which was returned by the residents. The assailants also fired a rocket as a result of which a wall of the house was damaged. Motive behind the attack was said to be an old enmity.
