KARACHI: PPP Sindh refuses to attend LFO meeting

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 27: PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has turn down the government’s invitation, extended to the PPP MPAs, for Dec 29 talks in Islamabad on the issue of the Legal Framework Order (LFO).

The invitation was extended through Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar on behalf of Gen Musharraf.

It is learnt that Mr Khuhro has declined the invitation after holding consultation with party’s top leadership, including Ms Benazir Bhutto and Makhdoom Amin Faheem. Mr Khuhro maintained that although his party had never shut the doors on negotiations, it was Gen Musharraf himself who had on record said that “no talks could be held on LFO with the ARD leadership.”

He said, the government had reached an agreement with the MMA on the issue whereas the ARD did not recognize LFO which, he said, was aimed at turning the parliamentary system into unitary form of government.
