KARACHI, Dec 23: The Sindh government’s chief secretary, Dr Mutawakkil Kazi, has expressed concern on improper installation of transmission cables over highways, roads, thoroughfares and water areas.
He directed the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation and the DCO Karachi to ensure mutual coordination so that the citizens could be saved from any untoward incident.
The chief secretary, who paid a surprise visit to the main Korangi Road, Jam Sadiq Ali Road and other areas of Karachi on Tuesday, issued these instructions while noting that the transmission lines of the KESC over the bridge at the Korangi Road in Qayyumabad could prove dangerous for life and property.
Dr Kazi censured officials for misreporting on the ongoing repair work on the Korangi Road and directed the DCO and other authorities concerned to ensure extension and repair work of Korangi Road from the Korangi Crossing to Gora Qabrustan round the clock in three shifts, so that the work should be accomplished according to the schedule.
Advising the ACS (LG) and the DCO Karachi to maintain proper coordination amongst all stakeholders linked to the
main Korangi Road, Hino Chowk and Jam Sadiq Ali Road the chief secretary asked them to submit daily work progress reports.
