KARACHI, Dec 22: The secretary-general of the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors, Dr Jabbar Khattak, has expressed concern over the reported disappearance of a Pakistani journalist, Khawar Mehdi Rizvi, who had accompanied the two French journalists from Islamabad to Quetta.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the CPNE secretary-general said the French journalists were arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency on the ground that they did not have visa to visit Quetta, but their Pakistani colleague did not require permission to travel to Quetta.

Dr Khattak said while the French journalists’ case was pending in the court, the authorities should disclose the whereabouts of Khawar Rizvi, missing since Dec 15. The charges against him should also be made public, he stated. — PPI
