PPP seeks extension

ISLAMABAD, Dec 18: The People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) has submitted a resolution to the Senate seeking extension in the deadline set by the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) for the expiry of old national identity cards.

The resolution, moved by PPP parliamentary leader in the Senate, Mian Raza Rabbani, calls upon the government to direct Nadra to extend the deadline of Dec 31. He said in the resolution that the party believed that there had been gross mismanagement by Nadra in issuing computerized identity cards and a large number of people had still not been registered.

It was also a matter of record that about 1.1 million cards had not been delivered by Nadra so far, he added.—Staff Reporter
