KARACHI, Dec 12: The State Bank of Pakistan on Friday asked the banks to freeze accounts of three organizations which were banned by the government.
These are Hizbul Tehreer, Jamiatul Ansar and Jamat ul Furqan, a SBP spokesman said.
On Dec 3, the SBP had frozen the bank accounts of Millat Islami, Khuddamul Islam and Islami Tehreek Pakistan. All these organizations have been banned by the Pakistan government.
Reuters adds: The police said the move came too late to have any impact.
The government outlawed these organizations last month after Washington raised concerns about the re-emergence of militants groups within the country.
