HYDERABAD, Dec 12: Progress of 302 schemes of the annual development programme was discussed at the monthly review meeting held at the district Nazim Secretariat here on Thursday.
The meeting was informed that out of annual allocation of Rs430 million for the ADP 2003-2004, Rs220.582 million had been released and Rs125 million (over 44 per cent) had been utilized.
Speaking at the meeting, District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman urged the officers of departments concerned to efficiently utilize the development funds.
He directed them to ensure that not a single rupee was lapsed due to their mismanagement or casual attitude.
He informed the meeting that out of Rs37.3 million, saved from different development schemes in 2002-2003, Rs20 million would be utilized for non-development expenditure, Rs10 million would be reserved for emergency service and Rs73 million would be allocated for clearing the dues against different departments.
He also informed the meeting that Rs160 million of transaction fund was being re-appropriated and the amount would be used for strengthening the district, taluka and union councils. Mr Rafiquzzaman directed officers concerned to prepare a feasibility report in this regard.
He also approved an additional allocation of Rs18 million for laying a 16-inch pipeline to complete water supply schemes undertaken by the Hyderabad Development Authority at a cost of Rs45 million to provide water to 59 villages surrounding Hyderabad city.
The district Nazim also approved Rs40 million for repair and maintenance of water supply pumping station located on Jamshoro road.
He said that Rs170 million was available under the maintenance and repair head and asked the works and communication EDO to prepare schemes in such a way that each taluka should receive equal share.
The Nazim said that the district government had completed feasibility reports of schemes against the Sindh Governor’s package of Rs500 million and Rs141 million which had lapsed last year.
He said that the schemes had been approved by the provincial and district development working parties and waiting for re- appropriation and release of funds from the provincial government to start work on them.
DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed, finance EDO Syed Sikandar Shah, planning EDO Syed Juman Shah, agriculture EDO Shahabuddin Siddiqui, HDA director-general Ali Ahmed Lund, Water and Sanitation Agency managing director Tahir Ahmed and other officers attended the meeting.
COMMITTEE FORMED: The district Nazim has constituted a three member committee for finalizing the modalities to convert Mukhi House into the Hyderabad Museum.
He took the decision at the meeting held at the district Nazim Secretariat here on Thursday to review progress of the development schemes.
The committee would comprise the DCO as its head and the EDOs of works and communication and education as members
The Nazim asked the committee to prepare a feasibility report for the scheme up to Rs10 million, for which Rs3.5 million would be released during current financial year for initial repair and renovation of the building.
He also directed the committee to shift the existing school in Mukhi House to some other suitable place in a month till the construction of a new school building for which he approved the allocation of Rs25 million.
He said that Hyderabad had remained a city of libraries and distinguished writers and intellectuals but unfortunately it was losing its literary and scholarly heritage due to the apathy of authorities concerned.
He said that the district government was making a phase-wise plans for preservation of historical monuments and places such as Mukhi House, Holmestead Hall, Noval Rai Market Tower, tombs of Ghulam Nabi Kalhoro, Mian Ghulam Shah Kalhoro and Sindh’s Talpur rulers and grave of Hoshu Sheedi.
