RIYADH, Dec 7: Saudi Arabia has named 26 suspects wanted in connection with “terrorist events” in the kingdom and offered a 7 million riyal reward to anyone who helped thwart a militant attack.
A Saudi extremist group has vowed to continue struggle against the “foreign agents” on the holy lands.
The list of wanted men, whose pictures were shown on state television, included 23 Saudi nationals, two Moroccans and one Yemeni.
“All the wanted men must surrender themselves to the security services to clarify their true status. Whoever is found guilty will be treated according to the rules of our tolerant Islamic sharia (law),” an interior ministry statement said.
Similar pronouncements were made just a week prior to the May 12 triple bombing in Riyadh. Twelve of those announced in the May list have either been killed or arrested. The remaining seven are included in the just-announced list.
Meanwhile, an unknown group has threatened to wage war against Saudi security officials, claiming responsibility for a purported attempt to assassinate a top officer in Riyadh.
