Dr A. Q. Khan Auditorium inaugurated


DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Dec 7: The basic education is not only the right of every citizen, but is also a vital contributor in developing the over all economic conditions of a country.

NWFP Governor and Gomal University Chancellor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah made this observation while addressing at the inaugural function of the Dr A. Q. Khan Auditorium at the Gomal University on Saturday.

Engineer Brig (retd) Muhammad Sarwar Khan, the representative of renown scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, specially participated in the inaugural function.

The governor said the government was giving top priority to education. He stressed on the education of girls and said a educated woman could play a very important role in creating a tolerant society.

He further said a modern educational system was a prerequisite for the scientific and technological progress. He also advised students to work hard and devote themselves for studies.

The governor paid tributes to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan for his work in the development of science and technology in the country. He also thanked Dr Khan for providing financial assistance for the completion of the auditorium.

He appreciated the efforts of vice chancellor of the Gomal University for improving the academic environment and stressed on more attention in different sectors.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor Wazirzada Muhammad Idrees Khan in his welcome address highlighted academic activities of the university.

He also presented shields to the governor and the representative of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.

The governor also inaugurated the auditorium and the computer science block in the university campus.—PPI
