KARACHI: Residents irked by KBCA action

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 7: The beleaguered residents of Garden Quarters wish to draw attention to the fact that the Karachi Building Control Authority, in collusion with the CDGK and BoR, is unlawfully approving multi-storied buildings in Garden East and Garden West, which is a blatant violation of the requirements of the town-planning of Garden Quarters under the Sindh Town Planning Act of 1915, says a press release.

“Knowing of the Aga Khan’s keen commitment to outstanding architecture and improvement of the built environment of the Muslim world, a number of residents of Garden Quarters, where a large section of the Khoja Ismaili community resides, have appealed to him to intervene with the government to put a stop to the decimation of this old area of Karachi,” it says.

The release says that the copies of the appeal have been sent to the chairman of the Aga Khan Housing Board and the president of the Aga Khan National Council.
