KARACHI, Dec 6: Goalkeeper Ahmad Alam was the only trainee missing on the second day of the senior hockey camp, while Rana Asif and Mudassir Jr reported on Saturday.
Assistant coach Tahir Zaman said Rana Asif and Mudassir, who had gone to India to participate in a tournament as member of Stars Club, had joined the camp.
“Ahmad is now the only absentee. I think he might join tomorrow. He had told me he won’t be able to join on the first day because of his uncle’s death,” coach said.
Ahmad was not considered for last month’s Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad, India, owing to lack of physical fitness.
It was not the first time Ahmad is absent from the training camp as he had been unavailable on number of occasions on the opening days of the camps in the past for one reason or the other.
Both seniors and juniors had training sessions at UBL Sports Complex as the pitch at Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) is still going through laying process.
The senior camp had to be shifted from DHA Stadium to UBL Sports Complex due to some problem related to watering of the turf at DHA.
Pakistan seniors and juniors are to play triangular series involving Malaysia which starts from Dec 9 at HCP.
Although the concerned officials say the laying of the new pitch at HCP will be completed by Sunday, it seems rather difficult that the surface will be ready as promised.
The greenshirts will also be having a new coach in Roelant Oltmans recently hired by the PHF. The Dutchman is scheduled to take the reins from Monday.
