19 injured in accident

By Our Correspondent

HARIPUR, Dec 4: At least 19 passengers, including three women, were injured, three of them seriously, when a van hit a roadside tree on the Khanpur road on Thursday.

Police said the Haripur-bound van (RIR-9553), coming from Rawalpindi, overturned after hitting the tree near Suraj Gali village, 16km from here.

The injured, including the driver and three women,

were taken to hospitals in Haripur and Khanpur from where three seriously wounded persons were shifted to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad.

The injured include Shamim Akhtar, her husband Saeed Jafar, Syed Rahim Shah, Abdul Waheed, Ghulam Mohammed, Mohammed Tayyab, Tahirur Rehman, Shahid Mehmood and driver Zubair Ahmed.

The shortage of bandages and medicines at the district headquarters hospital reportedly hampered the treatment of the injured.
