Oil prices fall

LONDON, Dec 1: Oil prices gave up some ground on Monday as US traders came back to the market after the Thanksgiving break amid the presumption that this week’s meeting of the Opec cartel will bring no change to quotas.

The price of reference Brent North Sea crude oil for January delivery was down 53 cents to $27.92 per barrel.

New York’s reference light sweet crude January contract lost 58 cents to $29.83. There had been little change over Thursday and Friday, when the New York market had been closed for Thanksgiving celebrations.—AFP
