Published November 30, 2003

LAHORE, Nov 29: “Roti” and “Naan” prices are up by Re1 a piece on the conclusion of the City District Government Ramazan Price Control Campaign.

“Roti” and “Naan” were available for Rs2 per piece but are being sold for Rs3 each now on the ground that the government has raised the wheat support price to Rs350 per 40 kg for the next crop.

“Roti” and “Naan” being prepared at most of the “tandoors’ (ovens) is not only costlier but under-weight as well.

The two weigh less than 100 grams in most of the cases whereas the prescribed weight is 125 grams a piece.
