KARACHI: 109 vehicles taken away in one week

KARACHI, Nov 23: A total of 109 vehicles, including 40 cars and 69 motorcycles, have been taken away in different parts of the metropolis during the last one week.

Police said that 17 cars were taken away at gunpoint and 23 others were stolen in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Gulberg, Saddar, North Nazimabad, Clifton, etc.

Out of 69 motorcycles, twenty-two motorcycles were taken away at gunpoint and 47 others were stolen in many localities, including Liaquatabad, Zaman Town, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, New Town, Buffer Zone, Garden, Eidgah, Gulberg, Azizabad, Saeedabad, Kharadar, Garden, TPX, Mochko, Korangi and others.

Police claimed to have recovered 37 stolen cars and 40 motorbikes during the last one week.

SSP Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) Abdul Razzak Cheema told Dawn that the recovered cars and motorcycles were handed over to their owners after meeting the legal formalities. Only those vehicles, whose claimant did not turn up, were sent to the dumping ground (Nazarat).
