JI leader, two others killed in ambush

QUETTA, Nov 20: The Dera Bugti district chief of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Amanullah Bugti, and two other men were killed in an ambush near Sui on Thursday, police said.

Amanullah Bugti was also a member of the provincial executive committee of the JI and serving as an engineer at the Sui gas plant of the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL).

Police sources told Dawn by telephone that Amanullah Bugti and other three persons were going to Sui from Muthmandrani in a car. When they reached near Sui some armed men ambushed them killing Amanullah Bugti, Hakeem Khan and Liaquat Ali Hotkani.

The police sources said that one person, Sher Gul, was injured and admitted to a hospital in Sui. The cause of the killing was said to be a tribal enmity.
